1991 NPTI 91-11 GTP race car SOLD

  • This is the fastest of the long line of Nissan Sports-prototypes built during the great Group C/GTP formulae of the 1981-1993 period.

  • From 1988 to 1991, Nissan dominated the IMSA Camel GT Championship, Geoff Brabham dominating the series, with support from Chip Robinson in the sister team car.

  • In 1990 Trevor Chapman produced a new car, the NPTI90, which followed in the wheel tracks of its predecessor and blitzed the opposition. With a 3-liter turbocharged V6, these cars qualified with a thousand horsepower and, with the boost turned down, raced with just eight hundred!

  • There were just seven NPTI90/91s built in period but there were spare parts aplenty made and so, after NPTI itself was terminated, these spares were used to build up several more cars, of which this example, NPTI90-11, is one.

  • There’s been no expense spared on this Nissan. After its initial build, it was sold to Jim Oppenheimer, who had his support team, RM Motorsport, go through and set it up for him. Often driven by Craig Bennett, this black Nissan simply dominated wherever it appeared and won the respect of all who competed in and against it for its blinding speed on a racetrack.

  • Twin turbo V6 3.0 liter engine
  • Hewland transaxle/gearbox
  • Aluminum monocoque chassis
  • Carbon fiber bodywork
  • Carbon fiber brakes
  • EFI ecu and dash
  • Hella headlights
  • Air jacks
