The Lotus Exige GT3 was unveiled at the iconic Casino in Monte Carlo, Monaco in 2005. A day after the unveiling the Lotus Exige GT3 hit the track for its first test at Paul Ricard to homologate the Exige GT3 for FIA GT3 competition. Just three factory Lotus Exige GT3 race cars were constructed with one being destroyed by a fire. Cadena Team Lotus would go on to win the British GT championship in 2006 with the new Exige GT3. The light-weight Lotus Exige GT3 weighed just 1700lbs and was powered by a race prepared supercharged Toyota 2ZZ engine mated to a 6 speed Hewland 6 speed sequential gearbox.

This is chassis 002 of the 3 original Lotus GT3 race cars built by Lotus Sport. (Car #3 was destroyed in a fire). This Exige GT3 competed in the 2006 and 2007 British GT championship driven by George MacKintosh, Sam Blogg, and Alistair Mackinnon at tracks including Silverstone, Rockingham, Snetterton, Brands Hatch, and Mondello Park. This Lotus Exige GT3 is fitted with composite and carbon fiber bodywork finished in Starlight black and is powered by a race prepared supercharged dry sump 1.8 liter Toyota 2ZZ mated to a Hewland 6 speed sequential gearbox.
